Summary
Creating an AI short film involves much more than writing a prompt. From concept development and storyboarding to character design, keyframes, sound design, and final editing, AI acts as a creative collaborator throughout the process. This article explores the workflow I use to transform ideas into finished films.

Concept
Many AI shorts often begin as a simple conversation - a question, an idea, or a curiosity I’m exploring through dialogue with AI.
As ideas unfold, I shape and refine them - using AI as a creative partner to clarify structure, strengthen themes, and focus the emotional direction until a coherent story emerges.

Sketches
I sketch keyframes to define pacing, composition, and narrative flow before production begins.
When the sequence is clear, I use AI to extend my creative intuition - transforming rough ideas into visual progression while maintaining control over tone and timing.

Characters
After sketching, I develop the characters. I use AI to explore and evolve their appearance - refining features, mood, and presence until each character aligns with the story’s emotional tone.

Assets
Once characters are finalized, I use AI to generate multiple angles and variations. This ensures visual consistency across scenes while preserving character integrity throughout the production process.

Environment
Visual atmosphere is essential to every scene. I shape setting, lighting, and tone to support the story’s emotional impact.
Using AI as a creative tool, I translate cinematic references and abstract mood into a cohesive visual direction.

Keyframes
With characters and environments finalized, I use AI to generate keyframes guided by my original sketches. During this phase, visuals evolve - refining tension, composition, and pacing.
A single short may require 500–800 images, forming the foundation of the final sequence.

Gen AI Video
I use AI to transform keyframes into short motion sequences, rendering with audio enabled to guide timing and support later lip-sync - as each AI render can vary in voice performance.
Each project may involve generating 50+ clips, iterating until the motion and continuity align with the intended tone.

Sounds
Sound design is an iterative refinement process.
I carefully select sound effects, then edit and layer them to shape timing, tone, and emotional impact before final editing.

Voices
AI voice outputs can vary in tone, affecting character continuity.
To maintain cohesion, I standardized voice generation through a single platform — ensuring consistent, tone, and performance across the film.

Editing
With visuals and sound complete, I assemble the film in a dedicated editing software.
I transitioned to a more robust workflow to improve efficiency and gain greater control over multi-track editing and sound integration.
